The band Audioform is born as a result of several Charlotte musicians coming together. The project evolves into a fulltime music collective with elements of jazz, funk, and soul. Audioform begins to perform locally and attracts a following due to its emphasis on original multicultural music The band is comprised of Erick Payne (tenor saxophone), Keith Whatley (guitar), Lamont Settles (bass), Tony McCullough (alto saxophone), Abdul Sami-Khaliq (trumpet), Antonio Diaz (percussion), and Derrick Hines (drums).

Audioform begans touring regionally (South). The band adds Joe Smalls (bass) after Lamont Settles departs. Audioform begins the process of recording its first album for a 2008 release.

Audioform records and releases its first album entitled Compositions. Drummer Corey McClure replaces Derrick Hines. The band is invited to perform at the Fillmore Jazz Festival in San Francisco later that year. Drummer Audi Jones replaces Corey McClure. Trumpeter Jack Forseen joins the band along with trombonist Joey Rayfield. The band records Rare B-Side Grooves.

Groove 8 signs with booking and talent agency Fluid Talent. The band begins a regional tour that hits most of the Southeast. Travis Calvert (tenor sax) replaces Erick Payne. Keyboardist Jonathan Ayala joins. Audioform becomes Groove 8. Groove 8 hits Play On Brother Studio with producer Alan Evans and releases Debut. The band tours nationally in support of the release.

Groove 8 headlines the Savannah Jazz Festival. The band performs over 200 shows in 2010. Debut is still selling strong. Director Chris Ivey begins shooting footage of the band for a future documentary. Groove 8 hits the West coast again for a tour.

G8 beings writing material for a new album to be released by 2012. The band's current lineup: Keith Whatley (guitar), Joe Smalls (bass), Joey Rayfield (trombone), Tony McCullough (alto sax), Audi Jones (drums), Jonathan Ayala (keys) and Antonio Diaz (percussion). The band films its first music video live in Charlotte with the first new single - The Stand. Groove 8 celebrates its fifth year anniversary at a sold out show at NC Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte NCin May. Trumpeter Phillip Howe joins G8.

G8 loses bassist Joe Smalls and keyboardist Jonathan Ayala. The band adds bassist Chris Freeman and guitarist Chester Spivey. Groove 8 announces a Spring Tour. It also announces that a new G8 album entitled Curious Poses will be released June 29.
